Chef Bret Hagelberg started his career at the Sheraton Inn of Batavia, NY after graduating BOCES of New York with a Culinary Degree. He worked in a variety of restaurants in New York and Florida before becoming the chef/owner of Prego Italian restaurant in Bradenton. After 5 years he felt it was time to give back to the community and help train the next generation of chefs by becoming an instructor for the culinary arts program at Manatee Technical College. This fulfilling career opened up opportunities to help with fundraising for events like the Suncoast Wine Fest, Village de Chef, and the Bill Galvano Golf Tournament. Over the last decade, he has also spent time catering and teaching students to cook in clients homes as personal chefs. Cooking in restaurants has always been exciting, but being able to cook with a purpose has always been his desire.
