My culinary passion started with my Dad who was a cook in the Army during the Korean War. He gave me the tools and enthusiasm to be in the kitchen. My Mom also provided the desire to learn new things in the kitchen, she is Portuguese, and I learned to cook many ethnic dishes from her homeland.
I didn’t take a normal track to get to where I am today, a Chefs for Seniors franchise owner, I spent 20 years in the US Navy, and then an additional 20 years working for the US Government. The passion for cooking however never left me, often called upon to cook for family and friends during special occasions, I turned that into a Culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu. Looking ahead towards my second retirement, I had an itch that I couldn’t figure out. I knew it had to include cooking and when my Mom had a health scare, mainly because of her eating habits, that is where I put my focus. Chefs for Seniors has scratched both those itches and much more. I am looking forward to helping as many senior adults improve their eating habits so their families can enjoy their company for many additional years to come.
