Ingrid Moeava is a California native, recently returned to the Golden State in 2011 after living and working in Hawai’i, Arizona, and Nevada. Although not a trained chef, Ingrid has worked in leadership roles in Food and Beverage, as well as School Nutrition, for over 30 years. Her desire to create a transformative experience through food has been her lifelong vision.
Ingrid’s career began in the hotel/hospitality industry in the vineyards of Sonoma County. With encouragement from peers, her pursuits took her to the beaches of Waikiki to continue work in the Food and Beverage industry. As she developed her skills and her career, she continued her work in the beautiful desertscapes of the Southwest, the snow-capped mountains of the high desert, and eventually in the Great Valley of California.
Although Ingrid’s career began as a young adult, her passion, curiosity, and creativity with food began in her early years, influenced by her mom. As a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, Ingrid’s mom taught her the benefits of “good food, made well”—whole foods, proper portions, visual and textural appeal, and “everything in moderation”.
As a recent “empty nester” and part of the “sandwich” generation, Ingrid has grown keenly aware of the challenges many face with regard to finding food, affording food, preparing food and ensuring food consumed is “good for you”. Through advocacy in school nutrition, volunteer work with the unhoused, and caring for her elderly and fiercely independent aunt, Ingrid has come to realize the importance of her skills and the positive impact they can have on her community.
Ingrid looks forward to “Making Life Delicious in Your Golden Years” throughout her Chefs for Seniors territory in the Greater Sacramento area, including Carmichael, Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Folsom, and El Dorado Hills.
