Chef Angela Nix, Executive Chef of Chefs For Seniors Central ArkansasMeet Your Arkansas Personal Chef

Angela Nix, Executive Chef
It is easy to say cooking is in Chef Angela Nardi Nix’s blood, as she is a third-generation culinary arts chef.  She graduated from National Park Community College’s Hospitality Administration program simultaneously upon graduation from Hot Springs High School. Chef Angela furthered her culinary arts career at El Centro Community College in Dallas, TX, one of the top six culinary programs in the United States. While studying at El Centro, she worked under the tutelage of Chef Colleen O’Hare at The Green Room in the trendy downtown Dallas neighborhood of Deep Ellum. In 2006, Chef Angela was named one of the Great Eight up and coming chefs of Dallas by Dallas Modern Luxury Magazine.

Chef Angela’s career then took her to Fort Collins, Colorado where she served as Kitchen Supervisor from 2009-2012 at the #1 rated Embassy Suites Hotel and was named Employee MVP in 2010.

In July 2012, she returned to her hometown of Hot Springs and became the Head Chef at The Superior Bath House Brewery and Distillery, the first ever brewery in Hot Springs, and the first restaurant to be approved to reside in one of the historic Hot Springs Bathhouses. For Superior, she built the kitchen from the ground up and carefully constructed her menu using items that would pair perfectly with each brew, proudly featuring as many locally grown products as possible in her menu selections. While at Superior, she was featured in Hot Springs On The Go Magazine (2013), Hot Spot Magazine (November 2014), Ouachita High Country Magazine (Spring 2014), Spring Magazine (July 2014), Hot Springs; Next Level Food Blog (September 2014), and Hot Spot Magazine (cover and feature August 2015).

Southern Living Magazine’s food writer Morgan Murphy chose four of Chef Angela’s recipes for feature in his book Off the Eaten Path, On the Road Again, published in March 2015. (Time, Inc.named #1 paperback book in the U.S. 2015).

Competing in Hot Springs’ Local Salsa Competition, Chef Angela and her kitchen crew won First Place and Best Restaurant in August 2014 and Best Mild Salsa in August 2015. Culture Trip Magazine (July 2015) listed Chef Angela as one of the Top 10 Chefs of Arkansas, and placed second in the Diamond Chef of Arkansas Culinary competition in 2016. In 2016, Chef Angela served as a consultant for several new restaurants in the Hot Springs area, advising on kitchen layout and design, menus, costing and hiring staff.

Since 2021, Chef Angela has been the executive chef for central Arkansas for Chefs For Seniors.

For leisure, she enjoys DJ-ing for Hot Springs’ local Community Radio station 102.5 KUHS.
